Obsidian Flames arrived in 2023 as one of the era's most celebrated Pokémon TCG releases. The set captured collectors' attention with its striking visual design and stellar pull rates, making it highly accessible while still delivering premium chase cards. This period marked the hobby's maturation following the 2020-2021 boom, with sets increasingly focused on artistic presentation and collector satisfaction alongside competitive playability. Lechonk, the adorable pig Pokémon introduced in Scarlet and Violet, appears as a secret rare in this set—a designation reserved for the most sought-after cards. Its charming character design and the rarity of secret rare treatment make it a natural target for collectors building complete sets or pursuing their favorite Pokémon across printings.
