Dragon Vault emerged in 2012 as a special collection set celebrating Dragon-type Pokémon during the Black & White era. This focused release appealed directly to players and collectors who appreciated the elegance and rarity of Dragon-types, offering premium holographic cards alongside vintage reprints. The set represented Pokémon's continued strategy of themed products that catered to specific collector interests rather than broad competitive play. Axew, the Dragon-type starter, appears here in its classic holo treatment from this premium release. The young dragon's artwork captures its distinctive appeal—a small but determined creature with significant evolutionary potential. Collectors seek Dragon Vault holos for their clean presentation and the set's reputation as an accessible entry point to Dragon-type collection.
