Team Rocket marked a watershed moment for Pokémon TCG in 2000, introducing the first villainous faction set that shifted the game's tone considerably. Released during the franchise's explosive growth, this set captured the spirit of competition and intrigue that resonated with collectors. The Rocket theme—featuring corrupted versions of familiar Pokémon and trainers—created memorable cards that remain iconic two decades later. Imposter Oak's Revenge exemplifies the set's appeal: a Trainer card depicting the manipulation of Professor Oak himself, a beloved authority figure. The artwork's clever subversion of expectations made it instantly recognizable. Collectors appreciate cards that tell a story or challenge conventional wisdom, and this card delivers both, making it a standout from its era.
