Ruby & Sapphire marked the third generation of Pokémon TCG expansion sets and arrived during the franchise's peak cultural moment in the early 2000s. The EX series introduced a bold mechanical shift with powerful but risky high-HP Pokémon, reshaping competitive play and collecting priorities. These sets remain touchstones for players who grew up during the original Pokémon explosion, representing a era when the TCG felt fresh and innovation still surprised longtime enthusiasts. Mightyena, the evolution of Poochyena, captures the Dark-type aesthetic that defined the Hoenn region. Collectors appreciate this holo for its connection to Ruby & Sapphire's memorable roster and the card's solid role in deck-building during its format. The artwork embodies early 2000s Pokémon illustration style, making it a nostalgic pull for those who opened these packs two decades ago.
