Pokémon Expedition Base Set arrived in 2002 as part of the franchise's enduring trading card game. Released during the height of second-generation nostalgia, Expedition brought fresh artwork and mechanics while maintaining the accessible gameplay that defined the era. The set remains a touchstone for collectors who came of age during Pokémon's sustained cultural presence in the early 2000s. Dratini, the iconic dragon-type starter, appears in this set as a bridge between generations—familiar yet reinterpreted through Expedition's distinctive visual style. Collectors seek out this card both as a foundational piece of the evolutionary line and as a snapshot of how the TCG rendered classic Pokémon during this particular moment in the hobby's history.
