Sun & Moon launched Pokemon's seventh generation and marked a significant shift in the TCG's visual direction. Released in 2016-2017, this set introduced new mechanics, updated card design language, and featured GX Pokémon as the era's power cards. The set remains foundational for modern collectors, establishing design standards and gameplay principles that persist today. Lapras GX captures the beloved ice-water hybrid's commanding presence through dynamic illustration. As a GX Pokémon, it represents the power level collectors sought during this period. Lapras's combination of nostalgic appeal—the Kanto classic fans grew up with—and contemporary card design makes it a natural draw for those building collection depth from this formative era.
