The Rocket Gang set marked a pivotal moment in Pokemon's trading card game history, introducing the villainous Team Rocket faction to the TCG for the first time. Released in Japan in 1997, this set captured the imagination of collectors by bringing a darker, edgier aesthetic to Pokemon cards. The Japanese version remains highly sought after by enthusiasts who value its earlier release date and distinctive design philosophy compared to later international printings. Dark Weezing exemplifies the set's appeal, featuring the iconic two-headed poison-type Pokemon rendered in the moody, atmospheric style characteristic of Rocket Gang holos. The card's striking artwork and the novelty of seeing beloved Pokemon reimagined under Team Rocket's influence continues to draw collectors who appreciate both the artistic direction and historical significance of this formative era in the hobby.
