Donruss Leaf Grass Roots represented an unconventional approach to 1996 football cards, departing from traditional photography with distinctive illustrated artwork. The set emerged during a period when manufacturers experimented with artistic styles to differentiate their products in an increasingly competitive market. Its design choices and limited print runs made it memorable among collectors seeking alternatives to mainstream cardboard offerings of the era. Eddie George's inclusion captures the running back during his promising early years with the Tennessee Oilers. Collectors value his cards from this period as foundational pieces of his career, representing the moment before his emergence as one of the league's most productive backs. The artistic interpretation on this card offers a unique visual take on the future star.
