This Black Star Promo was distributed during the height of the Pokémon Trading Card Game's initial surge in popularity, specifically tied to the theatrical release of Pokémon the Movie 2000. Promotional cards from this era represent a unique intersection of film marketing and trading card collectibility, making them windows into how the hobby was experienced in the late 1990s and early 2000s. These promos remain important pieces of Pokémon TCG history. Moltres, one of the legendary bird trio, is a natural centerpiece for promotional material. This particular copy carries an illustrator error, a printing variation that distinguishes it from standard versions and adds an extra layer of appeal to collectors interested in printing anomalies and variants. Error cards from this formative period of the TCG continue to draw attention from those building comprehensive collections.
