EX Dragon marked a pivotal moment in the Pokémon Trading Card Game's evolution, arriving in 2003 when the hobby was experiencing explosive growth. This set introduced the powerful EX mechanic, fundamentally reshaping competitive play and collecting strategies. Featuring Pokémon from the Hoenn region alongside beloved classics, EX Dragon became instantly iconic and remains a cornerstone set for collectors seeking that early 2000s era of the game. Houndour, the Fire and Dark-type puppy Pokémon, captures the moody appeal that made these dual-type cards so compelling to collectors. Its artwork reflects the darker aesthetic that distinguished this generation, and Houndour's evolution line held particular appeal for players building aggressive deck strategies during this competitive period.
