Clay Burst arrived in 2023 as a landmark Japanese set that energized collectors with its artistic direction and innovative card treatments. The Art Rare subset became particularly celebrated, showcasing full-art alternate illustrations that elevated standard Pokémon designs into gallery-worthy pieces. This era marked a creative resurgence for the TCG, where special treatments and distinctive artwork drove collecting interest beyond gameplay value alone. Sandygast appears here as an Art Rare, rendered in a distinctive illustrative style that captures the peculiar charm of this ghost-type Pokémon. The card exemplifies why collectors pursued this subset—imaginative, character-focused artwork that departed from traditional card design. Art Rares from Clay Burst remain sought-after for their visual appeal and representation of the set's artistic ambitions.
