Topps Garbage Pail Kids: Book Worms arrived in 2022 as part of the enduring GPK franchise's ongoing revival. The series maintained the line's tradition of irreverent, satirical humor applied to familiar pop culture touchstones—in this case, literary and academic subjects. By the 2020s, GPK had established itself as a collector favorite across generations, blending nostalgia with contemporary sensibility and continuing to push creative boundaries through parody and visual comedy. Nat Rat exemplifies the set's playful approach to wordplay and character design. The card's subject plays on literary references while maintaining the exaggerated, grotesque aesthetic that defines the brand. Collectors appreciate these cards for their clever conceptual humor, distinctive artwork, and the way they capture a moment in the franchise's evolution during a period of renewed collector interest in alternative trading card properties.
