Garbage Pail Kids experienced a major revival in the 2020s as Topps capitalized on nostalgia and collector appetite for the irreverent brand. This 2022 Book Worms set cleverly paired GPK's crude humor with classic literature parodies, released exclusively through Walmart to reach broader audiences. The Gross Adaptations theme gave artists fresh material to work with, blending literary references with the signature grotesque illustrations that made GPK a cultural phenomenon decades earlier. Horrified Harry takes aim at a beloved literary franchise, transforming its protagonist into GPK's characteristically disturbing style. The card exemplifies the set's appeal—witty concept, bold artwork, and the nostalgic charm of seeing iconic characters reimagined through the brand's uniquely irreverent lens. Collectors gravitate toward these thematic crossovers that merge pop culture recognition with classic GPK absurdity.
