The 2022 Topps Garbage Pail Kids: Book Worms set represented a playful intersection of classic GPK irreverence and literary themes. Released during a period of renewed collector interest in the franchise, this series updated the brand's satirical humor for contemporary audiences while maintaining the crude, deliberately offensive aesthetic that has defined GPK since the 1980s. Book Worms proved the property's enduring appeal across generations of collectors seeking humor-driven cards beyond traditional sports and entertainment subjects. Splatty Patty exemplifies the set's absurdist approach to its literary premise, delivering the grotesque imagery and wordplay that make Garbage Pail Kids collectible. The 95a designation indicates this as one of the paired variations that GPK employs—a collecting mechanism that encourages building complete sets. Fans of the brand appreciate cards like this for their willingness to embrace the outrageous and ridiculous without apology.
