SkyBox Marvel Masterpieces stands as one of the early efforts to bring fine art sensibility to comic book trading cards. Released in 1992, the set featured painted illustrations of Marvel's most iconic characters, representing a deliberate shift away from photographic card design toward gallery-quality artwork. The set became influential in demonstrating that trading cards could function as collectible art objects in their own right, helping establish the market for illustrated superhero cards throughout the 1990s. Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman, remains one of Marvel's most compelling characters, and her inclusion in this set captures the team-oriented heroism of the Fantastic Four era. Collectors appreciate this card for its artistic rendering of the character and her significance within Marvel history. As a foundational entry in 1990s Marvel card collecting, it represents both the character's legacy and the artistic ambitions of the set itself.
