Card Notes
The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth Art Series marked a landmark collaboration between Magic: The Gathering and J.R.R. Tolkien's literary legacy. Released in 2023, this special set reimagined iconic characters and locations through the lens of contemporary fantasy illustration, capturing both the card game's devoted audience and crossover collectors drawn to Middle Earth's enduring cultural resonance. Fog on the Barrow-Downs brings one of Tolkien's most atmospheric and unsettling locations to visual life. The artwork captures the haunting desolation of these ancient burial grounds, translating literary dread into painterly form. Collectors value this piece for its thematic depth and as part of the limited Art Series run that celebrates Middle Earth's most memorable places.
