Topps revived the Garbage Pail Kids brand in 2019 with a '90s Politics & News series, bringing back the irreverent humor that defined the original sticker sets. The collection celebrates that chaotic decade through satirical takes on newsmakers and cultural moments, capturing the spirit of parody trading cards that made GPK a cultural phenomenon. This modern release proved collectors' appetite for nostalgic humor remained strong, blending '90s memories with contemporary appreciation for the format. The Scud Buster card draws from early '90s headlines with characteristic GPK irreverence, transforming a major news event into absurdist artwork. These topical cards remain popular with collectors who prize them for their wit and cultural snapshot quality, making them key pieces for anyone documenting the set's editorial voice.
