Fossil was the third expansion released for the Pokémon Trading Card Game and arrived during the franchise's explosive early popularity in 1999. The set introduced fossil-themed mechanics to the game while capturing collector enthusiasm at its peak. Fossil remains historically significant as one of the foundational releases that established the TCG's long-term appeal beyond casual play. Horsea represents the classic aquatic Pokémon that appeared throughout the early sets. The card's simple yet appealing artwork exemplifies the straightforward design philosophy of first-generation cards. Collectors value Fossil-era basics for their role in the game's formative competitive landscape and as nostalgic anchors to the era when Pokémon cards first became a cultural phenomenon.
