Fossil was Pokemon's third expansion set, released in 1999 during the height of the trading card game's explosive popularity. This set introduced fossil-themed creatures and represented a pivotal moment when the hobby had matured beyond its initial novelty phase. First Edition printings from this era remain highly sought by collectors for their historical significance and relative scarcity compared to unlimited runs. Grimer, the toxic sludge Pokemon, appears here as a common from the set. The card captures the character's grotesque charm with artwork that exemplifies the distinctive visual style of early Pokemon illustration. Collectors appreciate Fossil commons as fundamental pieces of late-90s Pokemon culture and building blocks for completing sets from this foundational era.
