Neo Discovery arrived in 2001 as part of the beloved Neo era, when the Pokémon TCG was reaching passionate collectors worldwide. Released by The Pokémon Company, this set explored the Johto region introduced in Gold and Silver games, bringing fresh creatures and nostalgic appeal to players who'd grown up with the original 151. The Neo sets remain cherished for their classic artwork and approachable gameplay, representing a golden age before power creep fundamentally transformed the game. Mareep, the electric wool Pokémon from Johto, appears here in its characteristically gentle form. This stage-one creature represents the early evolution line that many collectors remember fondly from the games. Mareep cards appeal to both Johto enthusiasts and electric-type specialists who value the early depictions of Pokémon designs before countless rereleases and alternate art versions became standard.
