Neo Genesis launched in 2000 as the first English set featuring Pokémon from the Gold and Silver generation. Released during the franchise's peak cultural moment, it captured collector enthusiasm for the newer creatures while maintaining the charm of early Pokémon card design. The set remains foundational to vintage English collecting, representing a bridge between the original Base Set era and the expanded universe that would follow. Cyndaquil, the Fire-type starter from the Johto region, appears here as a basic Pokémon card with appealing artwork that showcases the character's distinctive spiky appearance. As one of three starter Pokémon from its generation, Cyndaquil holds nostalgic appeal for players who chose it during their Gold or Silver games, making copies of this card sought after by both set builders and fans of the character itself.
