Pokemon Journey Together represents a significant modern release emphasizing full-art and illustration rare cards as centerpiece collectibles. Released in 2025, the set reflects the hobby's evolution toward celebrating artistic interpretation alongside gameplay mechanics. Illustration rares have become particularly sought after by collectors who value creative presentation and premium aesthetics, making sets like this important snapshots of contemporary Pokemon TCG design philosophy. Wailord as an illustration rare showcases the card's appeal through dynamic, expressive artwork that captures the massive whale Pokemon's presence. The full-art treatment elevates this evolution-stage Pokemon beyond its typical appearances, making it an attractive pull for those building art-focused collections or completing the illustration rare subset from this set.
