Hidden Fates marked a turning point for modern Pokémon collecting when it released in 2019. This set became legendary for its Shiny Vault subset—full-art holos of alternate-colored Pokémon that felt genuinely rare and special. The combination of scarcity, stunning visuals, and nostalgia for the original Shiny hunting mechanic made Hidden Fates a benchmark set that collectors still pursue today. Malamar's dark, angular design translates beautifully into shiny form, and this full-art holo captures the Pokémon's menacing appeal against a dramatic backdrop. Collectors are drawn to the Shiny Vault subset for its artistic presentation and the satisfying rarity of pulling these cards from packs, making each one feel like a genuine find.
