Jungle was the second major expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, released in 1999 during the franchise's explosive early growth. Building on Base Set's foundation, Jungle brought fresh artwork and new competitive staples that shaped the metagame for years. The set represents a pivotal moment when Pokémon cards transitioned from novelty to serious collectible hobby, capturing the era when kids and adults alike rushed to local shops for booster packs. Meowth appears throughout the Pokémon universe as a beloved and mischievous character, instantly recognizable to fans of both the trading card game and the animated series. First Edition versions of Jungle cards are particularly sought after by collectors for their historical significance as early printings, representing the set's original release window before unlimited reproductions flooded the market.
