Topps Fire emerged in 2022 as a premium release embracing bold design and dynamic photography. The Flame Throwers subset within this set celebrated baseball's most dominant pitchers, capturing the intensity and athleticism that define modern pitching at its highest level. Fire's vibrant aesthetic and focus on star power made it a standout offering during a year of experimentation across the hobby. Gerrit Cole represents a cornerstone subject for this subset—an ace defined by his competitive fire and dominant stuff on the mound. Collectors gravitate toward Cole's cards from this era as markers of his reign among baseball's elite hurlers, with the Flame Throwers design particularly resonating for its kinetic energy and celebratory approach to pitching excellence.
