Signature comparison
This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).
Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | Two-part abbreviated signature: an angular zig-zag 'M' (reads like 'Ml'), a gap, then a tall looped 'P' running into a compressed 'gt'-like terminal with a long horizontal crossing stroke. | R1–R8 all show the same two-block structure: a zig-zag M group, a space, a tall P with a loop, and a compressed terminal with a crossing bar. | Match |
| Slant and baseline | Mostly upright to slightly right-leaning. Baseline is roughly level; the P stem drops below the baseline. | R1, R2, R5 and R6 are upright to slightly right-leaning with a descending P stem. R3 and R4 have a slightly rising baseline. | Natural variation |
| Letter construction | The M is built as a sharp up-down zig-zag with an added small 'l'-like upstroke. The P is formed with a high top loop returning into the stem. | The same zig-zag M plus trailing upstroke appears in R1, R2, R5 and R6. The P loop construction matches R1, R2, R4 and R6. | Match |
| Connecting strokes | The M group is a single continuous stroke. There is a lift before the P, and the P connects into the terminal letters. | Same lift pattern between the M group and the P across the references. | Match |
| Starting and ending strokes | Starts with a quick entry upstroke into the M. Ends with a long, tapered horizontal crossbar extending right. | R1, R2, R5 and R6 show the same tapered right-extending crossbar finish. | Match |
| Line quality and speed | Fluid, confident strokes with tapered ends. No visible tremor or hesitation at this resolution. | Fast, fluent line in all references. | Match |
| Pen pressure pattern | Heavier on the downstrokes of the M and the P stem, lighter on the exit strokes. | Similar pressure emphasis in R2 and R5 (dark marker) and in R1 and R6 (blue). | Match |
| Spacing | A clear gap between the M group and the P group; the terminal letters are compressed. | Same spacing habit throughout. | Match |
| Flourishes and underlines | No underline; the terminal crossbar serves as the flourish. | No underlines in the references; the same crossbar flourish appears. | Match |
| Placement and size | Black marker, written vertically along the right side of the artwork over the green field, in moderate size. | References are placed across the art in various orientations and ink colors (blue and black). Free placement is typical of artist autos. | Natural variation |
Examiner notes
Our card is a 2021 Horrorible Kids Series 6 (141a) and was likely signed around 2021–2022 by the artist-creator. The references are Horrorible Kids Series 9 (R1) and Nintendopes sticker artist autos (R2–R8), likely from about 2022–2024. That is close in time, so no meaningful era-driven change is expected. Pingitore's signature is a fast, abbreviated artist mark and is stable across the references.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
