Findings

Signer

Autograph
Signed directly on the card, front side
Handwriting
Matches the known signatures it was compared with. (8 known signatures)
Printed or copied?
The scan shows natural stroke-width variation, a tapered finishing stroke and uneven pressure. None of these fit a printed facsimile, and no halftone or dot pattern is visible at this resolution. Whether the ink sits on top of or under the card's gloss cannot be determined from the image; this requires loupe and raking-light inspection.

Overall form and proportionsCompact three-element signature: a looped 'T/L'-like capital, a small 'r-e' cluster, then a long rising terminal stroke sweeping to the upper right.Every reference shows the same three-part abbreviated 'Tre' with a long rising terminal. R2/R7, R5 and R6 are closest in proportions; R1, R3 and R8 have a shorter, more hooked terminal.Match
Slant and baselineUpright strokes lean slightly backward; the baseline rises gently left to right.Same mild back-lean and rising baseline throughout. Ours is at the more slanted end of the range.Natural variation
Letter constructionThe capital starts with a top stroke, drops to a lower-left loop that runs into the baseline, and continues into a small 'r' hump and a closed 'e/o' form.Same construction in R1, R2, R3, R5, R6, R7 and R8. R8 and R3 have a more prominent top hook on the capital.Match
Connecting strokesCapital, 'r' and 'e' join in one continuous movement before the terminal stroke.Same continuous connection in all clear references.Match
Starting and ending strokesStarts with a light entry at the top of the capital. Ends in a long tapered upstroke that thins to a point at the far right.Tapered terminal flourish is present in all references. R2, R5, R6 and R7 show the same long, thin finish.Match
Line quality and speedFluid strokes with smooth curves. No visible tremor or hesitation at this resolution; the terminal taper indicates speed.Rapid, fluid execution in all references.Match
Pen pressure patternHeavier through the loops and lower curves, lighter on the final upstroke.Same heavy-loop, light-terminal pattern.Match
Ink color / penPurple ink, fine-medium tip. Most references are blue. R6 is purple on the same card design, so a purple-ink version of this issue exists.Natural variation
SpacingTight letter cluster with a long, open terminal.Same.Match
Flourishes and underlinesNo underline; the extended terminal serves as the flourish.Same; no underlines in any reference.Match
Placement and sizeInside the light signature window above the nameplate, spanning most of the window width.R4, R5 and R7 show the same placement within the signature window and the nameplate area.Match
Reproduction indicatorsVisible stroke-width variation and a natural taper. No halftone dots apparent at this resolution. Ink appears to sit on the surface, but this cannot be confirmed from a scan.N/ANot assessable

Measurements

Software traced the ink and measured it against the known examples. The shaded band is the signer's normal range across those examples; the gold marker is this card.

The core shape measurements all fall within the range Tre Turner shows across his own reference signatures: the lean of his upright strokes, the overall angle of the signature, and its height relative to width. Two photo-sensitive measures sit outside that range. The amount of ink line per unit of width is high, and the count of enclosed loops is somewhat high. These measures are easily distorted by a thin pen line and the busy photo behind the signature, so they are a reason for a closer physical look rather than evidence against the signature. Overall, the numbers support the visual finding that this signature is consistent with Turner's.

Examiner notes

Ours is on a 2022 Leaf Pro Set Draft autograph (#PSA-TT1), signed around Turner's 2022 draft/rookie period. All references appear to be the same issue and era: R1-R5, R7 and R8 are 2022 Leaf Pro Set PSA-TT1 autos, and R6, although listed as '2024', shows the same card design. Era drift is not a factor; the differences come from signing speed, pen and session.

  • Measured ink travel per unit width (3.1 spreads) is above the reference range. This is a photo-sensitive measure and is plausibly inflated by the fine purple line and background artifacts in the scan, but it should be checked.
  • Closed-loop count (2.8 spreads) is high. It is likely a tracing artifact from the photo background behind the signature window, not a true feature of the signature.
  • The 'PSA/DNA' attributions on R1-R4 appear to come from the card number '#PSA-TT1' (Pro Set Auto), not genuine PSA/DNA certification. These references are manufacturer-certified on-card autos shown in unverified listings, not third-party authenticated items.
  • R2 and R7 appear to be the same card and image, so they count as one reference, not two.

How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
