Shiny Star V stands as one of the final Japanese sets released before the Pokemon Company's pivot toward English market prioritization. Arriving in late 2020, it celebrated the franchise's 25th anniversary with premium chase cards and experimental rarities. The set's triple rare designation represented a bold exploration of what special editions could offer, cementing its place in collectors' minds as a transitional moment when Japanese Pokemon cards held particular prestige. Eternatus VMAX embodies everything that drew collectors to this era: a dynamically rendered legendary Pokemon rendered in full-art glory. As one of the set's marquee chase cards, it captures the appeal of oversized V and VMAX mechanics while showcasing the vibrant illustrative style that defined this generation of Japanese releases.
