Power Keepers arrived in 2007 as one of the final sets of the EX-era, a period that defined mid-2000s competitive play and collecting. The set maintained the era's signature high-power mechanics while introducing fresh artwork and creative interpretations. By this point in Pokemon's trading card history, EX-era sets had become cornerstones of competitive deck-building, and Power Keepers continued that tradition with solid utility cards alongside chase holofoils. Psychic Energy represents one of the set's holographic energy cards, featuring the distinctive shimmer and artistic treatment that made these special printings desirable to collectors. Energy cards with holo patterns remain sought after by those building nostalgic collections from this beloved era, particularly when they showcase the vibrant illustrative style Power Keepers brought to the game.
