Shiny Star V stands as one of the most celebrated Japanese Pokémon TCG sets, released in late 2020 during the height of the pandemic collecting boom. The set featured alternate art treatments and shiny versions of popular Pokémon, creating significant collector demand. Its scarcity and the quality of artwork made it a defining release of that era, cementing its place in both Japanese and international collecting communities. Thwackey, the Grass-type middle evolution, appears here in its shiny form with vibrant alternate coloring that distinguishes it from standard releases. Collectors pursue shiny variants for their rarity and visual appeal, particularly from landmark sets like Shiny Star V that defined the modern collecting landscape.
