Pokemon VMAX Climax arrived in December 2021 as the final Japanese set of the year, representing a culmination of the era's powerful VMAX mechanics and character-focused collecting trends. This set became notable for its abundance of special illustration rares and full-art variants, offering collectors premium artwork alongside competitive gameplay cards. The set's design philosophy emphasized character storytelling and artist expression, making it a standout release during the franchise's height of popularity. Banette's Character Rare treatment captures the ghost-type Pokemon in a characteristically atmospheric illustration that showcases the card's appeal. Character Rares, which paired Pokemon with human characters in dynamic scenes, became highly sought after by collectors for their artistic presentation and relative scarcity. This particular card represents the kind of creative execution that defined VMAX Climax's reputation among enthusiasts.
