Obsidian Flames arrived in 2023 as a landmark set during Pokémon TCG's resurgence period. The era saw collectors and players increasingly drawn to special illustration rares—cards that prioritize artistic expression over standard frames. This set's SIR lineup became particularly celebrated for elevating the visual presentation of beloved characters beyond typical competitive card design. Poppy's special illustration captures the character in dynamic, expressive artwork that exemplifies what made this subset sought after. Collectors appreciate SIR cards for their gallery-quality presentation and the way they honor both the Pokémon universe and the artists' vision, making them display-worthy pieces that transcend typical gameplay utility.
