Paldean Fates represented a significant moment in the Pokémon TCG timeline, delivering the long-awaited shiny variants collectors had sought since the mechanic's introduction. Released in 2024, this set captured the modern era's embrace of full-art treatments and alternate aesthetics, becoming a cultural touchstone for players and collectors navigating the post-2020 boom's evolution. Palafin's shiny form showcases the dramatic color shift that makes this Pokémon visually striking—a transformation from its standard appearance that collectors prize for its rarity and visual appeal. The card embodies what draws collectors to shiny variants: the combination of scarcity, altered artwork presentation, and the inherent satisfaction of obtaining a version most players never will.
