EX Sandstorm arrived in 2003 during the height of the Pokémon TCG's second wave of popularity. This set marked the beginning of the EX era, introducing powerful double-prize cards that fundamentally changed competitive play and collecting strategy. Sandstorm became essential for players building competitive decks while attracting collectors drawn to the set's desert-themed aesthetic and newly designed card mechanics that rewarded aggressive, high-risk gameplay. Dunsparce represents the set's commitment to featuring the full Pokédex alongside heavy hitters. This modest Normal-type worm Pokémon showcases the era's distinctive artwork style, capturing the creature in characteristic pose and detail. Collectors appreciate Dunsparce cards from this period as part of completing comprehensive EX Sandstorm collections and as touchstones of early-2000s Pokémon TCG design.
