Panini NBA Hoops 2022-23 represents one of the final releases from Panini's long tenure as the NBA's official card manufacturer before losing the license to Fanatics. The set captures a transitional moment in hobby history, making it a nostalgic marker for collectors who followed Panini's evolution from the early 2000s onward. Hoops remained accessible and widely distributed, keeping the brand relevant across collector tiers during its final years. Chet Holmgren's rookie card in this set documents the arrival of one of the 2022 draft's most intriguing prospects. Selected third overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder, Holmgren brought rare athleticism and rim protection potential to a rebuilding franchise. Collectors value his rookie cards as foundational pieces of Thunder team collections and as markers of a generational defensive talent entering the league.
