Panini NBA Hoops remained a cornerstone of modern basketball card releases through the early 2020s, balancing accessibility with collectibility. The set's straightforward design and consistent player selection made it a collecting staple during the era when Panini held the NBA license. Hoops cards became the entry point for many collectors entering or returning to the hobby, offering vibrant photography and a clean aesthetic that stood apart from competitors. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has emerged as one of the league's premier two-way players, and his Hoops cards capture him during his prime years. Collectors gravitate toward his cards as both a representation of genuine on-court excellence and a piece of the modern era when his star continued its upward trajectory. His inclusion in this set reflects the standard practice of featuring rising talent and established performers alike.
