Fossil was the third major expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, released in 1999 during the height of the original TCG boom. It introduced fossil-themed Pokémon and mechanics that reflected the series' growing sophistication, establishing this era as foundational to competitive play and serious collecting. The set remains beloved for its iconic artwork and cultural significance during Pokémon's explosive mainstream popularity. Aerodactyl, the prehistoric flying-type, captures the set's fossil theme perfectly. This ancient creature became instantly recognizable to collectors through both the card game and the anime, making it one of the era's most sought cards. Aerodactyl appeals to players and enthusiasts alike for its combination of striking imagery and competitive relevance during the game's formative years.
