# Card Notes The 1989 Topps Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set captured the cultural phenomenon at its peak, when the heroes in a half shell dominated toy aisles, comics, and Saturday morning cartoons. This was Topps' first major foray into licensed character cards, establishing a blueprint for entertainment-based trading card sets that would follow throughout the early 1990s. The set remains a cornerstone of TMNT collecting and a nostalgic artifact of late-80s pop culture. "The Fearless Foursome" celebrates the quartet of Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo together, making it one of the set's most iconic and sought-after compositions. Collectors prize images of all four turtles in a single frame, as they represent the complete team and the spirit that made the franchise beloved across multiple generations.
