Panini Select represented one of the final flagship releases from the manufacturer before exiting the NBA card market in 2024. The set became historically significant as a closing chapter for a brand that had long competed alongside Topps and Upper Deck, offering premium designs and distinctive parallels that appealed to serious collectors. Select's Rookie Blue parallels were particularly coveted for their clean aesthetic and relative scarcity compared to base versions. Ron Holland II's rookie card captures him as an emerging prospect entering professional basketball. Collectors pursue his cards from this era as foundational pieces for player collections, especially given the significance of debut seasons in the hobby. As Panini's final releases fade from print, early Holland II cards from Select have become increasingly important to those building complete rookie portfolios.
