Fossil marked a pivotal moment in Pokémon's trading card game history as the third major expansion released in English. Arriving in 1999, it introduced players and collectors to fossil-themed creatures and mechanics that deepened the competitive landscape. The set remains iconic among enthusiasts of the era, representing the early boom when the hobby exploded into mainstream culture and cards from this period became foundational to serious collections. Golduck, the water-type evolution of Psyduck, appears here with distinctive artwork that captures the Pokémon's elegant, duck-like character. Collectors seek Fossil holos for their nostalgic appeal and historical significance as some of the earliest widely available English Pokémon cards. First edition printings hold particular interest for those building chronological collections of the game's formative years.
