Gym Challenge arrived in 2000 as a landmark set for the Pokémon TCG, introducing Gym Leader-themed cards and establishing a template that would define the early era. Released during peak collecting fervor, it remains one of the most sought-after sets from the game's formative years, with 1st Edition printings commanding particular attention from serious collectors. Sabrina's Drowzee represents a key appeal of Gym Challenge: the Gym Leader Pokémon cards that paired iconic characters with their signature creatures. Collectors pursue these cards for their cultural significance, striking artwork, and role in establishing the trainer-focused design philosophy that would shape the TCG's future.
