Signature comparison
This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).
Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | Abbreviated two-part signature: a compact angular 'M' zigzag, a gap, then a tall looped 'P' followed by a low run of letters ending in a 't'-like crossbar. | R1–R8 all show the same abbreviated 'M' zigzag plus 'P'-loop plus terminal crossbar structure, with the 'P' unit taller than the lowercase run. | Match |
| Slant and baseline | Signed vertically along the right edge of the card. Once rotated, it shows a mild rightward slant and a roughly level to slightly rising baseline. | Mild rightward slant and a level to slightly rising baseline across R2–R8. R1 is somewhat more upright and spread out. | Match |
| Letter construction | 'M' is made as a quick up-down-up zigzag with a short trailing stroke. 'P' has a tall stem and an open loop. The ending is a small 'g/y'-like descender followed by a 't' stem crossed by a long horizontal stroke. | Same 'M' zigzag (clearest in R1, R4, R6), same open 'P' loop (R1, R6, R8) and same descender-plus-crossed-'t' ending (R2, R5, R6, R7). | Match |
| Connecting strokes | Pen lift between the 'M' unit and the 'P' unit. The letters after the 'P' run together. | A consistent pen lift between the first and last name units appears in all references, with a connected surname run. | Match |
| Starting and ending strokes | Starts with a short lead-in at the base of the 'M'. Ends with a horizontal crossbar trailing off to the right, apparently tapered. | Short lead-in to the 'M' and a long tapered terminal crossbar are seen in R1, R2, R4, R6 and R7. | Match |
| Line quality and speed | Strokes appear fluid and confident with no visible tremor or hesitation at this resolution. | Fast, fluid strokes throughout R1–R8. | Match |
| Pen pressure pattern | Fairly even marker line with slight thinning at the terminals. Fine pressure detail cannot be resolved in the image. | Even marker-weight lines with tapering terminals. | Natural variation |
| Spacing | Moderate gap between the 'M' and 'P' units. Compact surname run. | The gap varies from wide (R1, R6) to tight (R3, R5). Ours falls within that range. | Natural variation |
| Flourishes and underlines | No underline or paraph. | No underlines or paraphs in any reference. | Match |
| Placement and size | Placed vertically on the right side of the image area, running over the background and the character's arm. Proportionate to the sticker. | References are cropped, so placement cannot be compared directly. All are signed in the image area at a similar relative size. | Natural variation |
| Ink and medium | Dark blue-teal marker, a slightly different hue in the crop than in the full slab photo, most likely due to scanner color. | Blue and black markers are used across the references (blue in R1, R3, R6, R8; black in R2, R4, R5, R7). | Natural variation |
Examiner notes
Our item is a 2024 Mutagen Canister Kids open-edition sticker, so it is current-era. All eight references are recent artist-signed Magic Marker Art products (Horrorible Kids Series 9 and Nintendopes open-edition stickers), the same era and a similar surface. No era-driven differences are expected, and none were observed.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
