Signature comparison
This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).
Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | Abbreviated two-element signature: an angular 'M' monogram followed by a 'P' with a compressed, cross-stroked terminal. Overall length is roughly 2.5–3x its height. | Every reference shows the same two-element abbreviated form: a zigzag 'M' then a 'P' with a reduced 'itore' ending in a crossing stroke (R1, R2, R4, R5, R7 are clearest). | Match |
| Slant and baseline | Read along the signature axis, it has a moderate right slant and a slightly rising baseline. The signature runs vertically up the right edge of the art. | R2–R7 show moderate right slant with a level-to-slightly-rising baseline. R1 is more exaggerated and larger. | Match |
| Letter construction – 'M' | Leading entry hook into sharp, narrow zigzag peaks, giving a 'W'-like sawtooth with pointed apices. | Same sawtooth 'M' with an entry hook in R1, R4, R5, R6 and R7. R4 and R6 are nearly identical in rhythm. | Match |
| Letter construction – 'P' and terminal | Tall downstroke with an upper bowl, then a short compressed run ending in a crossbar/'t'-like crossing stroke. | P stem plus bowl, then a compressed run with a crossing terminal, seen in R2, R4, R5, R7 and R8. R4's terminal is especially close. | Match |
| Connecting strokes / pen lifts | Pen lift between the 'M' and 'P' elements. The 'P' bowl flows into the trailing letters. | A consistent lift between the 'M' and 'P' groups across all references. | Match |
| Starting and ending strokes | Starts with a light entry hook. The finish is a quick crossing stroke with what appears to be a tapered exit. Resolution limits confirmation. | Tapered entries and exits with a quick terminal cross in R1, R5 and R7. | Natural variation |
| Line quality and speed | Strokes look fluent with sharp apices and no visible tremor or hesitation at this resolution. | Fast, fluent line in all references. | Match |
| Pen pressure pattern | Ink density looks fairly even with mild thickening on downstrokes. The low-resolution crop limits assessment. | Marker-type pens with mild downstroke emphasis (R2, R4, R5). | Not assessable |
| Spacing | Compact 'M', modest gap, compressed 'P' group. | Same spacing rhythm in R4, R5, R6 and R7. | Match |
| Flourishes and underlines | None. | None in any reference. | Match |
| Placement, size and ink | Dark green/black marker, placed vertically along the right side over the green background beside the title, medium size. | Placement varies between cards. Ink colors include blue, black and dark green; R4 uses a similar dark ink on a green field. The reference crops do not show card-level placement. | Natural variation |
Examiner notes
Our card is a 2024 Mutagen Canister Kids Stickers Open Edition artist auto. R2–R8 are from the parallel Nintendopes Stickers Open Edition artist-auto program, which appears to be the same mid-2020s period and the same signing format. R1 (Horrorible Kids Series 9) is likely from roughly the same recent period. No meaningful era gap is expected, so differences should be read as surface, pen and speed variation rather than career evolution.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
