Signature comparison
This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).
Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | A compact, abbreviated 'M' and 'P' monogram-style signature. It has an angular zigzag 'M', a short 'k/l' upstroke group, a looped 'P', and a long horizontal terminal with a crossing stroke. | R2–R7 show the same abbreviated structure: zigzag M, small middle forms, looped P, and long crossed terminal. R1 has the same elements, written larger and more loosely. | Match |
| Slant and baseline | Moderate rightward slant on a roughly horizontal baseline. The terminal stroke runs flat to slightly rising. | R2, R3, R4, R6 and R7 share the right slant and flat baseline. R5 is slightly more compressed. | Match |
| Letter construction | 'M' is built as sharp connected peaks. 'P' has a tall stem with a loop at the top, followed by a 't'-like crossing on the terminal. | Same M peak construction and P stem-plus-loop in R2, R3, R4, R6 and R7. R1 uses a rounder M. | Match |
| Connecting strokes | 'M' runs continuously into the following upstroke. There is a lift before the 'P', and the 'P' connects into the terminal. | R2–R7 show the same lift pattern between the first-name and surname groups and a connected P-to-terminal. | Match |
| Starting and ending strokes | Starts with a quick entry on the 'M'. Ends in a tapered, fast horizontal stroke extending right. | Tapered horizontal finish in R2, R4, R6 and R7. R1 ends with a long rising flick. | Match |
| Line quality and speed | Strokes appear fluid with tapering ends. No visible tremor or hesitation at this resolution. | References show similarly fast, confident marker strokes. | Match |
| Pen pressure pattern | Heavier ink on the downstrokes of the M and P, lighter on the terminal. Ink density varies along strokes. | Comparable variation in R2, R6 and R7. Surface and marker differences are visible on the colored stock of R3 and R5. | Natural variation |
| Spacing | Tight gap between the 'M' group and the 'P' group. | Similar spacing in R2–R7. Wider in R1 because it is written larger. | Match |
| Flourishes and underlines | No underline. The extended terminal acts as the only flourish. | Same in R2–R7. | Match |
| Placement and size | Blue ink across the lower art just above the nameplate, sized to the art area. | R2–R7 are crops only, so placement on the card cannot be fully compared. The sizes are proportionate. | Natural variation |
| Reproduction indicators | Ink varies in density and overlies the printed art. No halftone dot pattern is visible at this resolution. | n/a | Not assessable |
Examiner notes
Our card is the 2021 Nintendopes Stickers Open Edition artist-auto issue, so it is presumably signed around 2021–2022. R2–R7 come from the same issue and likely the same signing period, making them the most directly comparable. R1 (Horrorible Kids Series 9) and R8 (Slop Culture Kids) are other Magic Marker Art releases from roughly the same era. No meaningful career drift is expected across this set.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
