Signature comparison
This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).
Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | Compressed two-part signature. An angular zigzag 'M' with a following upright stroke, a gap, then a looped 'P' leading into a long horizontal terminal stroke. The first-name block is about as tall as the 'P' block. | R2, R3, R4, R5 and R7 show the same two-block structure and similar relative proportions. R1 and R8 are larger and more open but keep the same skeleton. | Match |
| Slant and baseline | Moderate rightward slant on the upstrokes. The baseline is roughly level and drifts slightly upward toward the terminal stroke. | R2, R4 and R5 show similar slant and level baseline. R6 is steeper and more erratic, consistent with faster signing. | Match |
| Letter construction | The 'M' is a rapid sawtooth (down-up-down) with a tall entry stroke. The 'P' has a tall stem with a loop closing to the right. The ending suggests a 't' with an extended crossbar. | R2 is nearly identical in 'M' sawtooth and 'P' loop construction. R3 and R4 show the same 'M' zigzag and 'P' loop. R7 and R8 show the same elements with more flourish. | Match |
| Connecting strokes | The first-name strokes connect continuously within the 'M' group. There is a lift before the 'P'. The 'P' runs into the terminal stroke. | The same lift pattern between the two blocks appears in R2–R5 and R7. | Match |
| Starting and ending strokes | Tapered entry on the first downstroke. The terminal is a long horizontal stroke extending right, with a light tapered finish. | The long right-extending horizontal terminal is a hallmark in R1, R2, R3, R7 and R8. | Match |
| Line quality and speed | Fluid, confident strokes with natural width variation. No visible tremor, hesitation or patching at this resolution. | All references show fast, fluid marker strokes. | Match |
| Pen pressure pattern | Heavier on the downstrokes, lighter on the connecting and terminal strokes. Ink density varies naturally. | R2 and R4 show a comparable pressure rhythm. R8 shows some skipping or smearing from the surface. | Match |
| Spacing | A clear gap between the first-name block and the 'P' block. | The same gap appears in R2–R5 and R7. | Match |
| Flourishes and underlines | No underline. The extended terminal stroke acts as the only flourish. | No underlines in the references. The terminal flourish is common to them. | Match |
| Placement and size | Signed vertically along the left border over the artwork, in dark blue/black marker, sized to the card edge. | The R2–R7 crops are from the same set with similar marker size. Orientation of the references is not determinable from the crops. Placement varies by card, which is typical for artist-signed stickers. | Natural variation |
Examiner notes
Our signature is on a 2021 Nintendopes Stickers Open Edition card (No. 40b), from the same release as R2–R7. It is likely contemporaneous with them, around 2021. R1 (Horrorible Kids Series 9) and R8 (Slop Culture Kids) are other Magic Marker Art releases from roughly the same period. No meaningful era drift is expected. Differences across the references mostly track marker color, card surface, and signing speed.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
