Printed or copied?
At the available resolution there is no visible halftone or dot pattern in the strokes. Ink density varies along the strokes rather than being uniform, and the vertical, off-axis placement over the artwork is atypical for a printed facsimile. The image resolution is not enough to rule out a high-quality reproduction or to confirm the ink sits on top of the surface, so physical inspection is still needed.

Feature by feature

FeatureThis cardKnown examplesResult
Overall form and proportionsAbbreviated two-part signature: a zigzag 'M' with a short following letter, a gap, then a large 'P' with a descender and a terminal stroke.R1–R8 all show the same two-group structure: a zigzag M-group, a gap, then a P-group ending in a horizontal t-bar or flourish.Match
Slant and baselineSigned vertically along the left edge of the card. Read horizontally it has a slight upward right slant with the baseline rising mildly.Rightward slant with a roughly level-to-rising baseline in R2, R3, R5 and R8.Match
Letter constructionThe 'M' is built as angular peaks (W-like zigzag). The 'P' has an upper bowl and a long downward descender loop (g/y-like) before the terminal.Same angular zigzag M in R1, R3, R5, R6 and R8. Same P-bowl plus descender structure in R2, R3, R5 and R8.Match
Connecting strokesThe M-group runs continuously into its small trailing letter. There is a lift between the M-group and the P-group.The same lift between the two groups and continuous M-group construction appear in all references.Match
Starting and ending strokesThe start looks tapered. The terminal reads as a short looping/curved finish rather than the long horizontal t-bar seen in some references. The long horizontal terminal is prominent in R1, R5 and R8. It is shorter or abbreviated in R6 and R7.Natural variation
Line quality and speedStrokes appear fluid with tapering, and no obvious tremor or blunt stops are visible at this resolution.Fast, confident line in all references.Match
Pen pressure patternInk density varies, heavier on downstrokes, consistent with a felt/marker-type pen.Similar marker-pen pressure variation in R2, R3, R5 and R8.Match
SpacingA moderate gap between the M-group and the P-group.Comparable inter-group gap across the references.Match
Flourishes and underlinesNo underline. The terminal flourish is compact. No underlines. Terminal flourish length varies between references.Natural variation
Placement and sizeVertical orientation along the lower-left artwork, medium size, in blue ink.Mostly horizontal placement in the reference crops. Ink is blue or black.Natural variation

Examiner notes

Our card is 2021 Nintendopes Stickers Open Edition. R2–R8 come from the same set and were likely signed in the same period, so era drift is minimal. R1 (Magic Marker Art Horrorible Kids Series 9) is a sister product from the same artist and probably a nearby period. All references show the same abbreviated 'MP'-type stylized autograph, so no career-era change is in play.

How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
