Signature comparison
This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).
Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | An abbreviated two-part signature: a sharp zigzag initial 'M' with a small looped follow-on, a gap, then a 'P' form with a descender and a long horizontal trailing stroke. The first group is taller than the second. | R1, R3 and R7 show the same two-group structure and proportions almost exactly. R2, R4 and R6 show the same structure in black ink, compressed by the cropping. | Match |
| Slant and baseline | Strong right slant on the M uprights. The baseline rises slightly to the right, read in the crop's horizontal orientation. | R1, R3 and R7 share the right-leaning uprights and a slightly rising baseline. | Match |
| Letter construction | The M is built from angular, rapid up-down strokes with sharp apexes. The second group has a looped P-like form crossed by a horizontal bar, ending in a 't'-like cross. | Same construction in R1, R3 and R7. The angular M and crossed terminal are visible in R2, R4, R5 and R6. | Match |
| Connecting strokes | The M connects into the small loop in one movement. There is a clear lift before the second group, and the terminal stroke runs through the crossing. | The same lift between the groups and the same continuous terminal appear in R1, R3 and R7. | Match |
| Starting and ending strokes | Starts look like quick entry hooks. The final stroke is a long horizontal that appears to taper at the end. | R1 and R7 show similar tapered long endings. R8 also has a trailing horizontal. | Match |
| Line quality and speed | At this resolution the lines look fluid and fast, with sharp turns and no visible tremor or hesitation. | The references show similar rapid execution. | Match |
| Pen pressure pattern | Slightly heavier on downstrokes and lighter at the tapered ends. Some density variation is visible in the blue ink. | R1 and R7 show comparable density variation. The black-ink references are harder to judge. | Natural variation |
| Spacing | A moderate gap between the M group and the P group. | Comparable gap in R1, R3, R4 and R7. | Match |
| Flourishes and underlines | No underline. The extended horizontal terminal stroke serves as the flourish. | Same approach across the references. R1 extends its terminal especially long. | Match |
| Placement and size | Signed vertically along the left edge over the pink background, in blue felt-tip style ink, sized to the card. | References are signed across the art in blue (R1, R3, R5, R7, R8) or black (R2, R4, R6). Each crop is shown horizontally, so their orientation on the card cannot be confirmed. | Natural variation |
| Reproduction indicators | No halftone or dot pattern is visible in the ink at this resolution. Ink density is not perfectly uniform. The image is too low-resolution to confirm the ink sits on top of the sticker gloss. | Not applicable. | Not assessable |
Examiner notes
Our card is a 2021 Nintendopes Stickers Open Edition artist auto (No. 30b), so the signature likely dates from about 2021 or later. R2–R7 are from the same Nintendopes issue and the same era. R1 (Horrorible Kids Series 9) and R8 (Slop Culture Kids) are other Magic Marker Art releases, most likely from a similar recent period. No meaningful era gap is expected. All references show the same abbreviated 'M[k] P[t]' scrawl with a long trailing stroke.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
