Signature comparison
This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).
Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | Two-part abbreviated signature: a compact zig-zag 'M' unit, then a larger 'P' with a tall upper loop, ending in a low 't'-like form with a long horizontal terminal stroke. | R1, R3, R4, R6 and R8 show the same two-unit structure: angular M zig-zag, tall looped P, and a trailing t/cross stroke. R1 and R8 are especially close in proportion. | Match |
| Slant and baseline | Mild rightward slant. The baseline rises slightly through the P and flattens into the long terminal stroke. On the card the signature runs vertically along the left edge. | R1, R3 and R8 show a similar mild right slant and flat-to-rising baseline. R7 also appears angled or rotated on the card, so non-horizontal orientation is not unusual for this run. | Match |
| Letter construction | The M is built as a fast angular zig-zag (N-like) with a short connecting tail. The P is a tall upstroke with a rounded upper bowl. The final form is a small loop or hook crossed by an extended stroke. | R1 shows identical construction of the M zig-zag and the tall P loop. R3, R4 and R8 repeat the same M zig-zag and P-bowl construction with minor size variation. | Match |
| Connecting strokes | The M exits into a short tail that breaks before the P. The P flows into the final hook and cross without a lift. | R1, R3 and R8 show the same break between the M unit and the P, then continuous movement through to the final cross. | Match |
| Starting and ending strokes | The start is a quick upstroke into the M. The ending is a long, tapering horizontal stroke to the right that extends well past the letter bodies. | R1 shows the same long, tapered right terminal. R8 and R6 end with a similar extended cross. R4 is shorter, which reads as normal variation. | Match |
| Line quality and speed | Strokes look fluid and confident. Ends taper, with no visible tremor, hesitation or blunt stops at this resolution. | All legible references show a fast, fluid execution. R2 and R5 are lower in legibility but show the same rapid movement. | Match |
| Pen pressure pattern | Ink density varies slightly. Downstrokes in the M and P are somewhat heavier and the terminal stroke is lighter, consistent with a felt-tip or marker. | R1, R3 and R8 show a similar marker-type pressure variation. | Natural variation |
| Spacing | There is a moderate gap between the M unit and the P. The P and terminal are compact, with the long cross extending right. | Spacing matches R1 and R8 closely. R7 is more cramped, consistent with a busier signing area. | Natural variation |
| Flourishes and underlines | No underline. The extended terminal stroke serves as the only flourish. | None of the references show an underline. The extended terminal is common to R1, R6 and R8. | Match |
| Placement, size and ink | Blue ink, placed vertically in the left margin over the pink background and partly over the artwork. Size is proportional to the sticker. | R1, R3 and R8 are blue ink, and R3 and R8 are also on pink backgrounds. R2, R4, R5, R6 and R7 use black or dark ink. Placement over the artwork on the sticker face is consistent across the run. | Match |
Examiner notes
Our item is a 2021 Nintendopes Stickers Open Edition artist auto (No. 30a, King Cooper), likely signed around the product's 2021 release. R2–R8 are from the same Nintendopes Open Edition artist-auto run, so they are the same era and the same signing context. R1 (Horrorible Kids Series 9, 01/10) is a closely related Magic Marker Art product from about the same period. No meaningful era drift is expected across this set.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
