Printed or copied?
At the available resolution there is no visible halftone or dot pattern in the signature. Ink density varies along the strokes and the terminal stroke tapers naturally. The ink appears to sit on top of the printed gradient rather than being part of the print. The signature's orientation and placement are irregular rather than a fixed facsimile position. These observations do not rule out a high-quality reproduction; magnification is required.
Decision
Authenticated by Crown Grading after staff review.

FeatureThis cardKnown examplesResult
Overall form and proportionsCompact two-part signature: a stylized 'M' that reads like 'Nl', a gap, then a tall 'P' flowing into a looped 'gt' with a long horizontal terminal bar. Written vertically along the left border.R1–R7 show the same two-part 'Nl … P-gt' structure with the long right-hand terminal bar. R1 is nearly identical in proportion.Match
Slant and baselineStrong rightward forward slant on the initial strokes and a fairly level baseline (relative to the signing direction).R1, R3, R4 and R6 show the same forward-leaning initial strokes and level baseline. Small baseline drift in R5 and R7.Match
Letter construction'M' is an upstroke, a sharp down-angle, then a separate short 'l'-like stroke. 'P' has a tall stem with a closed bowl run into small 'g'/'t' loops.Same construction in R1, R2, R3, R4 and R6. The 'P' bowl and loop sequence matches R1 and R3 closely.Match
Connecting strokesPen lift between the first-name initial and the surname. The surname is written as one continuous stroke.Same lift pattern and continuous surname in R1–R7.Match
Starting and ending strokesStarts with a quick hooked entry. Ends with a long, tapering horizontal stroke extending right.Long tapered terminal bar present in R1, R3, R4 and R6. Shorter in R2 and R5, which fits normal space and speed variation.Natural variation
Line quality and speedFluid, confident marker lines with tapering on the terminal stroke. No visible tremor or hesitation at this resolution.R1–R7 show similarly fast, fluid marker execution.Match
Pen pressure patternHeavier ink at the turns and lighter tapering at the exits. Density looks non-uniform, as expected from a live marker.Similar pressure variation in R1 and R3. Assessment is limited by image resolution.Natural variation
SpacingModerate gap between the initial and surname groups.Comparable gap in R1–R7. R4 and R6 are slightly tighter.Natural variation
Flourishes and underlinesNo underline. The trailing bar acts as the flourish.Same in R1–R7.Match
Placement and sizeBlue marker, signed vertically in the left blue/white/red border area beside the figure, off the artwork's printed elements.Reference crops do not show orientation. Placement on artist-signed stickers varies. Blue ink matches R1, R3 and R7.Not assessable

Examiner notes

Our card is a 2021 Nintendopes Open Edition sticker, so the signature is likely from about 2021 to 2023. References R1–R7 are all contemporary Magic Marker Art / Nintendopes artist-autograph issues from the same general period, so no meaningful career drift is expected. R8 (Slop Culture Kids) is also contemporary but shows a different form, discussed below.

  • R8 differs markedly in letterforms (an 'hl' plus scribbled form) from R1–R7 and from ours; it may be misattributed or a different signer and was discounted.
  • Six of the eight references are Crown-reviewed listings with no visible authentication on the item; only R1 carries manufacturer autograph-card status.

How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
