Signature comparison
This card. The signature as cropped from the slab photo (front).
Below, the known examples Crown compared it with. Examples with stronger proof (signed in front of staff, or certified by an independent authenticator) carry the most weight.
Feature by feature
| Feature | This card | Known examples | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overall form and proportions | Two-part abbreviated signature. First is a sharp zig-zag 'M' running into a tall looped 'l' stroke. Then, after a gap, a tall 'P' and a compressed 'gt'-type ending with a long horizontal crossbar. The first initial is roughly as tall as the P. | R1–R8 all show the same two-unit construction: zig-zag M with trailing loop, a tall P, and a compressed terminal with a long crossbar. R8 (green marker) and R1 are especially close in proportion. | Match |
| Slant and baseline | Moderate right slant. The baseline rises slightly from the M unit to the P unit (read in the signature's own orientation, since it is written vertically on the card). | Right slant with a slight upward drift across R1, R3, R4, R6 and R8. R5 is somewhat flatter. | Match |
| Letter construction | The M is built as an angular up-down-up zig-zag ending in a rising loop. The P has a tall downstroke with a small rounded bowl. The terminal is a small loop or hook followed by a tall t-like stem. | Same M zig-zag and loop in R1, R3, R4, R8. The P bowl is small and high in R1, R2, R8. The terminal loop-and-stem is seen in all. | Match |
| Connecting strokes | The M connects continuously into the loop. The P is a separate unit. The bowl flows into the terminal letters without a lift. | Same connection pattern throughout. R6 shows slightly looser connections, consistent with speed. | Match |
| Starting and ending strokes | Tapered entry on the M. The signature ends in a long, quick horizontal crossbar trailing off to the right. | Tapered entries and long trailing crossbars in R1, R3, R4, R6, R8. | Match |
| Line quality and speed | Fluid strokes with confident curves and no visible tremor or hesitation at this resolution. There is light density variation typical of a marker. | All references show fast, fluid execution with similar marker density variation. | Match |
| Pen pressure pattern | Heavier on the downstrokes of the M and P, lighter on the loops and crossbar. | Similar heavier downstroke and lighter crossbar pattern, most visible in R1, R3, R8. | Match |
| Spacing | Clear gap between the M unit and the P unit. The terminal letters are tightly compressed. | Same inter-unit gap and compressed ending across references. | Match |
| Flourishes and underlines | No underline. The extended crossbar serves as the only flourish. | No underlines. The crossbar extension is the consistent flourish. | Match |
| Placement and size | Signed vertically along the left side of the sticker in dark green marker, over the yellow background and partly near the character's hair. | Reference crops do not show full placement. R8 is also in green marker. Size relative to the card appears comparable. | Natural variation |
Examiner notes
Our item is a 2021 Nintendopes Stickers Open Edition artist-auto variant (#21a). R2–R6 and R8 come from the same Nintendopes artist-auto run, so they are effectively contemporaneous. R1 (Horrorible Kids Series 9) and R7 (JSA-certified 'Grem LYNN' print) are likely within a few years of ours, though undated. No meaningful era drift is expected or observed: all references show the same abbreviated 'M[l] P…gt' form.
How Crown authenticates autographs: the signature is compared with known examples gathered from Crown's own authenticated cards, independent authenticators and public listings, measured by software, examined by an AI forensic model, and signed off by Crown Grading staff. The decision above is Crown's.
